15. Mad As Rabbits

Pretty. Odd.

'Pretty. Odd.' starts off with a bang with the lovely 'We're So Starving', a song that was created to ease fans' worries about the band. The distinctive lyrics and catchy tunes really makes you get hooked onto this song and you will soon find yourself singing along: '...we're so sorry we been gone/we were busy writing songs for you/you don't have to worry 'coz we are still the same...band'. Although being rather short at only 1 minute 21 seconds, this song will easily creep into the hearts (and MP3s) of Panic At The Disco's (PATD) fans. The fact that PATD created and selected 'We're So Starving' for 'Pretty. Odd', even making it the first track on the album, shows just how important fans are to them and I believe many fans will appreciate the band's apology about being 'gone for so long'.

However, the song ends all too quickly and you'll soon hear a familiar tune that you probably heard somewhere on the radiowaves. Yup, its 'Nine In The Afternoon'! Yet another infectious song that you will unlikely be able to forget for days... (even weeks for my case... xS). Whenever, they sing 'your eyes the size of the moon...', you (for a guy I mean... :S) will probably think about the first girl you'd a crush on or your girlfriend (unless of course, they had small eyes... :P), making this song especially sweet for the guys (not sure about you girls though...). I wouldn't be surprised though, if people started to shout: "Its 9 in the AFTERNOON!" whenever someone asked them for the time.

By now, it would seem clear to the listeners that PATD has gradually moved out of the shadows of Fall Out Boy (FOB) and are now making their own distinctive sounds. In the past, first time listeners to PATD could have easily mistaken the band for FOB or may have been misled to believe PATD and FOB share the same vocalist. However, on PATD's latest album, they have become more comfortable with themselves and are more willing to experiment with various instruments and sound effects (note the radio-like starting of 'I have Friends In Holy Spaces', the trumpet in 'When The Day Met The Night' and the country-like sound of Folkin' Around').

'She's A Handsome Woman' is a pleasant song that makes you wanna go on an adventure round the world everytime Brendon Urie sings 'Go on...' (which was quite often) Its a song that somehow makes you think about travelling the world and seeing all the attractions of the globe before its too late (with the pollution, global warming and greenhouse effect going on in this world of ours).

Another nice song on the album is 'That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed)'. It may not sound all that great on the first listen but like sweet, sweet chocolates, you'll soon find it so, so addicting. Its just one of those songs that I like without any reasons or so... The thing I found weird about this song though was that the lyrics didn't seem to have anything to do with the song name at all; unless, of course, they are writing the lyrics in the point of view of 'That Green Gentleman' (Wonder if hes a real person...hmm...).

'Northern Downpour' is a smoothing song that you will best remember by 'sugarcane' (I have no idea how many things they sang the word 'sugarcane' but it certainly did make the song so very much distinctive; How many times do you hear the word 'sugarcane' in a song? :P)

'Pretty. Odd' is an album that reminded me of The Beatles for some funny reason. Perhaps, The Beatles were influential in the creation of the album? (Forgive my pitiful knowledge in music... :D)

'Behind The Sea' is a song that you will probably like if you were a Beatles fan. It is one of the songs in the album that really screams "The Beatles!!!" at you.

I like the song 'When The Day Met The Night' which is a song about the 'Sun' and the 'Moon' falling in love with each other. Its a song that you can't help but to put a smile onto your face, especially if you were listening to the lyrics carefully: 'When the moon found the sun/he looked like he was barely holding on/but her eyes saved his life in the middle of the summer'.

All in all, 'Pretty. Odd' is an album that has songs for your every emotion. When you're down, you may find yourself listening to songs like 'When The Day Met The Night' and when you're up, you will be singing along with songs like 'Nine In The Afternoon'. If you're a PATP or Beatles fans, this album may even become one of your favourites.

p.s. This is my personal thoughts about the song. Please do not flame me if you disagree with me. :)

Ah...SICK!

Today was very, VERY eventful. There was the '4E4 LAN Fest', tuition (as usual... - -;), tour around Serangoon Gardens Country Club, walk around Kovan Heartland Mall and the misadventures with Finster.

I started off the day by being awoken by a call from Finster, at around 7.44 a.m, asking what time we were suppose to meet for the '4E4 LAN Fest' (Thanks for waking me up Fin... -___-). Then, I took a bath and brushed my teeth and headed towards the bus stop. Missing the bus, I sat on the bench and waited for the next bus, not expecting the flood of SMS-es from Kenrick asking about where I was, where everyone else was and how much longer he had to wait at the Serangoon Interchange -.= (Its ok, Kenrick, I still love ya! :S)

I made a few calls and well, as usual, some people had overslept or had something important on at the last minute. From the 13 or 14 people that CONFIRMED about going, only 5, including me, made it for the 'LAN fest'. I can't describe how pissed off I am with them but trust me when I say...they are so screwed... (Nah, kidding! :P I'm a forgetful and forgiving person! xD Besides, I finally bought Panic At The Disco's 'Pretty. Odd'! I can't be bother with those fishes...:S)

Anyways, I left the LAN shop early at around 11 a.m and headed towards my tuition centre (I was gonna meet them after tuition to eat together...). On my walk there, I bumped into my uncle. Being the kind guy he is, he offered me a ride straight to the doorsteps of the tuition centre (Thanks, uncle Harrison! You rock! xD). I had Chemistry tuition then and well, tuition was...fine...except for my stomach growling and SOMEONE *AH HEM, AH HEM* BULLYING ME! (Take my jacket somemore hor? *sob*). Well, I left tuition early yet again (Sorry, Mrs Lim! :P) and headed to the LAN shop. When I reached it, only Kenrick, Fin and Ryan was left there, Alson and Shouheng had already left. We paid at the counter and headed towards the bus stop, thinking about places to eat. Suddenly, Kenrick and Ryan saw their buses and had second thoughts about eating. And so, they left (BASTARDS! -.-) and Fin and I decided to explore Serangoon Gardens. I brought Fin to Serangoon Gardens Country Club and gave him a tour of the place.

After the tour, I didn't feel like going home and well, it was pretty hot. So I suggested going to Kovan (notice my pronounciation of Kovan: COOOL-VAN :P), thinking it was cooler there. We dragged along Soshi for our expenditure at Heartland Mall and we explored the shelves of Music Junction. AND WHEE...!!! I BOUGHT PANIC AT THE DISCO's 'PRETTY. ODD'!! YES AH!!! After that, we followed Soshi to Popular to buy his assessment books (like he will try those assessments liddat...-,-).

We parted ways with Soshi at the MRT station later on (he had to go home by 4.30 p.m) and Fin, being the smart alec he is :X, decided we should search for the Salvation Army store. So we travelled the sacred lands of Singapore in search of the holy grail: The Salvation Army Store. While we were walking, I adruptly spotted a dead snake lying on the floor...

Me: ew...snake...
Fin: Where?
Me: You blind ah?!
Fin (on closer examination at the 'thing' on the floor): OHH, YUCK!
Me: Quick...RUN!
Fin: -No wait, TAKE PHOTO!
Me: Aiyah, shit you la, you ownself take!
Fin: Quick TAKE!
Me (after snapping the photo while keeping my distance...): QUICK LA! RUN LA! I SCARED ALREADY!

I swear...Fin is really blind. Well, actually, he was blind; his specs were spoilt. And well, I still have the picture of the dead snake on my mind...having goosebumps now, thinking about it. To make it worse, Fin had to talk more about it. I was already suffering from a fear of snakes after my horrifying snake eating experiences in China (No offence for anything...but I have to say, you CAN really find ANYTHING edible in China...even probably, ...Tigbit meat. ;P Nah, but seriously, I heard from my Primary school teacher that people in China eat Bear's Paw, Monkey's Brain and dog just because its suppose to make you 'smarter' or something...).

Fin (after a moment of silence...): Just imagine ah, the snake fall from a branch or something...
Me (shivering...): OK. Shut up. Seriously...
Me (a few seconds later...): Just imagine ah, the snake drop on you and you turn your head, seeing the snake's head...
Fin: ...Oii...you say don't talk about it and here you are talking about it...

The snake never left our conversation (even for a minute) after that...

We boarded 81 on Fin's command (I swear...I will never obey his commands or trust his sense of directions ever again...) and looked out for a bulding with the Salvation Army's crest on it.

After a few bus stops, we finally realised that we were not even close to finding it so we alighted and took the 81 from the opposite bus stop and headed to Serangoon Interchange (Home sweet home, finally...?)

We passed by the place where we spotted the snake and we just couldn't help looking at it :P To our delight :S , a boy was approaching the snake. We stared hard at the boy's face, waiting for his reaction at spotting the snake and when he was about a metre away from the snake, he finally noticed it and stopped in his tracks.

Me (after a few minutes of laughter with Fin): Retarded sia...he need to walk so close to the snake to finally realise it!
Fin: You got see or not? He drinking his bubble tea half-way, then, he see the snake and stopped drinking!

Man, are we mean... ;P Anyways, soon, we reached Serangoon Interchange and we parted ways. I headed back home while Fin headed...well, back home I suppose.

I thought that was the end of the Salvation Army incident but boy was I wrong. After dinner, on my father's car, we passed by a building and I spotted something distinctively familiar: a red crest with the words 'The Salvation Army' written on it. I opened my eyes wider in an attempt to check if I was seeing things again. But this thing, my eyesight didn't fail me as it usually did. What I saw was truly what I thought it was: The Salvation Army Family Store. And I got rather pissed off with Fin, the Salvation Army was IN A COMPLETELY OPPOSITE DIRECTION from the way we went. Screw you Fin! Seriously man... -.-

Well, and finally someone noticed the dark rims my eyes have. And unexpectingly, its Fin, without his glasses. And he had this to say:

Fin: Aaa~you look like a panda!
Me: Huh?
Fin: You got panda eyes!
Me: ...finally someone noticed!
Fin: ...
Me: But if I panda, Terrence is what sia?
Fin: Ok...you're 1/8 of a panda...
Me: ...

Below are photos I took :) :

968778...etched into my memories...

I had just resigned from 968778 Productions. Was pretty sad and all but I'd made up my mind. It was for the best that I left. It may not appear so now but I believe that with my absence, the Productions will grow stronger. I wanted to type this post out while I was clearing my desk at the Productions but...well, I was too sad to do so. Although 968778 Productions may not be a big deal or something that is watched by all, I had a great time working in it. I can safely say that I will remember being part of this band of brothers for many years to come, possible even on my deathbed.

Just a little poem done by my great friend 87:

he was one of a kind
he was in everyones mind
he was one that wouldnt fit
he was the one and only TigBit

we decorated his shoe
we sang together to Dark Blue
we had so so much fun and
we didnt think of the inevitable end

yup his minds made up
now play that golden harp
as we celebrate his time here
and as we shed our beloved 78 a tear

i can write so much poetry
about how he made life seem carefree
and how he put us in the spotlight
so this is the final goodbye, goodnight

goodbye 78

You definitely have a talent in poetry, my friend. I am really touched by your poem. I can't describe my sadness in leaving but just know, its for the best. :) A thing to remember though...this isn't the end of 78.

Tigbit's Currently Listening To:

Dark Blue by Jack's Mannequin, Beat It by Fall Out Boy and Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. These 3 songs have been stuck in my head for the past week or so. Firstly, Dark Blue. Fin introduced my to Jack's Mannequin (thanks Mate!). At first, I thought it was just some crappy band, but after listening to Dark Blue on the bus back from sec 3 camp, I got addicted to them, epecially Holiday From Real and Dark Blue (love this 2 tracks! :D). I love Fall Out Boy's cover of Michael Jackson's Beat It. It features John Mayer on guitar (Heard the guitar solo on the later part of the song? Thats him. ;D). I'm not sure if the version above has his guitar solo though; The one above is a live edition. If you wanna hear the studio (I guess thats the word for non-live edition...) version, just visit Fall Out Boy's website. Lastly, Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. I first heard this song on TV and after that, I got hooked by the song. Its a great track to listen to when you're on the bus, on the way home. Hopefully, you'll enjoy the 3 tracks above as much as I did. C'ya...on my next post! :P

Wheres the '-BIT'?

This was actually for yesterday but I was too busy with homework and the 968778 Productions blog that I had no time to update the blog.

Found this on the floor. Hmm...wheres the '-BIT'?

This is what happens to your shoes after a 4-day camp - sandy, soggy and uneven; even after drying.

Never knew the neighbourhood around our school was so picturesque...

This pigeon refused to budge even when I was only a few centimetres away, climbing the steps. Shocked me for a moment when I turned around while climbing and all I saw was the pigeon. -____-

Done in 1 day! So proud of myself... xD

Since I was gonna buy a new pair of shoe...why not 'decorate' it? Done by Fin.

The Tigbit logo - done by Asyraf. Maybe I should get myself a camera...it looks blurry...

Hmm...whats this? Anti-Emo campaign?

Yes~! I've done it! This proves I'm no emo :S

Wow! Teens need help expressing themselves online? I doubt so...

Maybe, just maybe I need a new pair of socks... :S

Aww~, playing alone? No one plays alone as long as 968778 Production Team is around! :P

Slept with my brother in his room over the weekends (there was something wrong with the fan in my room). In case you were wondering about the mattress on the floor, my brother sleeps on 2 mattresses.

Like my blanket? :)

E.T Phone Home?

Alright. First post and all so I'm gonna explain what Rawr-ing Tigbit's Eye means. Tigbit is an imaginary cross breed between a tiger and a rabbit ('Tig-' from Tiger and '-Bit' from Rabbit :P) that was 'created' by me ;D I thought of the 'creature' Tigbit after watching my brother play a trailer on Rayman: Raving Rabbits 2 (a game for the Wii console) and saw the rabbits.

As you can see above, Raving Rabbits are often seen with their mouth wide open in pictures and screenshots. So I had the disturbing image of this particular rabbit roaring :S Thus, my creation of Tigbit - a rabbit that roars like a tiger (Oh shit...wait a minute...do Tigers roar? Oh well...never really mind...). My friends call me Tigbit...I have no idea why though...maybe coz when I say,"Huh?!" it sounds like "Rawr?!" and maybe coz I'm the creator of Tigbit. Theres a slight possibility that they call me Tigbit coz of my buck front teeth too (I heard that people with buck front teeth are often associated to Rabbits and Ronaldinho ;D) Anyways, this is why this blog is called Rawr-ing Tigbit's Eye - coz friends call me Tigbit. Besides Rawr-ing Tigbit's Eye sounds better than Rawr-ing Cliff's Eye :P

And to answer the last part of the mystery behind the name...Eye...referring to what I see or rather, what I think is interesting enough to take photos of. So bascially this is a photo blog of what I see. I believe pictures speak a thousand words so I'd rather make this blog a photo one. Besides, I'm too lazy to type! :X Will see you guys around but for now enjoy the photos below!

Taken quite awhile ago, a tattoo drawn on me by my lovely Tigbit Jr. :P

Soft Toy Galore at my Chinese Tuition Centre ;D

Sneak shot at my brother! :P

Aye~! Leg fighting below the table anyone? :D

Piggy friends forever? ;D

God. Who wrote my name in such a horrible handwriting? :S

Written on a pack of Hudson's: 'When Your Little Son Asks You To Show Him How To Make His Own Babies: Hudson's, Soothes Life's Little Irritations.' This really made me laugh out loud. :P

Amazing how much you can see from the 8th floor...

The barber shop at Serangoon Gardens, near the NTUC. Really funky place... :)

The Owner of the Barber shop giving someone a haircut. (If you go there, do ask him to cut for you; Hes the best barber in the area! :D)
